Dowry

What is Dowry?
Giving or taking dowry is punishable under Law. If you are being harassed by your husband or his family for money, property, gifts or any goods from you or your family during or after your marriage as a consideration for marriage. If you are being ridiculed for insufficient dowry, you are a victim of Dowry harassment.

 

What can you do?
Take recourse in Prevention of Dowry Prohibition Act by writing a complaint to the Police authority.


The Law can help you fight for your rights

  1. To give or to demand; Dowry is dealt with under section 3/4 of Dowry Prohibition Act 1961.
